About Me...Coach Harris
Hello! My name is Geoffrey Harris and I'm currently one of the Physical Education teachers at Plato Academy St. Petersburg. I work hand in hand with Coach Schlabach during the daily lessons and sometimes lead the lessons for the single classes.
I was born and raised in Hope, Arkansas, a town famous for its watermelons and former president Bill Clinton.
I started participating in competitive sports at an early age. I started boxing at age 4, baseball at age 4, basketball at age 6, and football at age 6.
In high school I attended Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock, AR, I was a multi sport athlete participating in football, basketball, baseball, and wrestling. I received a letter in each sport, 2x all conference in baseball and football, and I was able to finish my wrestling career with an undefeated record. After high school I received a baseball and football scholarship to attended Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky. After years of playing sports, the injuries piled up and during my freshman year I suffered an injury that effectively ended my athletic career. I then transferred back home to attend the University of Arkansas, where I received my Bachelor's of Science in Education and my Master's in Physical Education.
I've always had a passion for coaching and I've always knew that I would be involved in the coaching realm of some sort. After stepping away from playing sport I focused on giving back and passing my knowledge about sports on the generation after me. I was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Parkview Mustangs out of Little Rock, AR for 3 years, winning the IYFL 11-12 year old Super Bowl 2 out of the 3 years. In 2013 I was the assistant offensive coordinator and running backs coach for Oakdale Middle School in Rogers, AR, winning the Northwest Arkansas Middle School conference title. In the fall of 2019 the Plato St. Pete Flag Football team won its first championship in school history.
When I'm not teaching the wonderful students of Plato Academy; I'm spending time with 6 year old dog Zoey, watching any sport on TV, participating in fantasy leagues, and giving back to the community whenever possible.
